Friday Favorites: Tailgating Fun!

Since we are at the beginning for football season, I thought I would share some of my favorite football themed Pinterest finds. Sorry if many may revolve around one particular team...Go Bucks!

Perfect Tailgate Set-up: Doesn't this look like the perfect tailgate set-up? Just adjust the colors for your favorite team and you are ready to go!

Perfect Tailgating Outfit: Love everything about this outfit! From a fun team shirt, to the ability to layer for those colder games, to the fun accessories. I especially love that jacket!

Perfect Tailgating Dessert: You will never go wrong with brownies, and how cute are these football shaped brownies?!? And with just the touch of icing, these would be perfect for any sweet tooth!

Perfect Tailgating Shoes: I totally love my Toms, and I have a red pair for football season. Who knew that they had this scarlet and gray version. Comfy and stylish for cheering for your favorite team.

Perfect Tailgating Spread: Each one of these items is making me super hungry and ready for the next foodball party. I especially love those chocolate covered strawberries.

Perfect Tailgating Jewelry: Isn't this so cute! I have seen these necklaces in other states, and knew that they had one for Ohio, but this is the first time I have seen one. Will need to look into getting one of these.

Perfect Tailgating Food: More great tailgating food. Love the picnic basket to carry it all, and sliders and chili are just perfect for fall.

Perfect Tailgating Decor: I love making seasonal wreaths for my front door, and this one is perfect for football season, and looks easy to make. Now off to find some buckeyes.

Perfect Tailgating Manicure: Although it looks a little complicated for my abilities, how fun would this manicure be to sport on game day?! I may have to try this out very soon; I think I can handle the polka dots :)

Friday Favorites: Favorite Books of 2012

I wanted to change things up with my Friday Favorites posts and share some of my favorite books I have read in 2012. I love books and I am always looking for suggestions, so I figured I would pay it forward and share some suggestions of my own. I may continue to share book reviews from time to time and am open to suggestions as well. Please feel free to share some of your favorite books in the comments.

The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen

This story is set around a historic mansion in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina - The Blue Ridge Madam. This home originally belonged to Willa Jackson's once well-to-do family, but has since then sat empty. One of Willa's old classmates from high school, Paxton Osgood who is also a socialite/do-gooder in the town and from the very prominent Osgood family, is working on restoring the mansion to its former glory.

During the process they find out that the mansion has some skeletons in its closet, literally, when a skeleton is found underneath the old peach tree in the front of the mansion. This mystery of the murder pulls the two girls together to figure out the truth of what really happened at the house while also causing them to discover the bond that their grandmothers had together with each other and with the skeleton that was found.

I really love this author because her books are very whimsical and they full of magic, superstitions and southern charm.

The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addision Allen

This book is also by the same author as The Peach Keeper, and I think I enjoyed this book even more than the other one, although both were really good.

In this book, Emily Benedict comes to Mullaby, North Carolina to live with her grandfather and learn a little bit more about her mother who has passed away. Her mother had left Mullaby before Emily was born and really had no contact with her family members, so everything is very new to Emily when she comes to town, including this new relationship with her grandfather, who is probably the tallest man alive.

Emily learns that things are very different in Mullaby when she notices that the wallpaper in her room changes with her mood, the fragrance of fresh baked pastries float through the air, and magical lights dance across the town at night. What I loved most about this book was it's whimsical nature and that the most unexpected things were kind of expected in this town. It really made me want to move to this comforting little town of Mullaby, NC.

Groundswell by Katie Lee

Emma Guthrie has just dropped out of college after losing her scholarship, is job-less, and has no idea what her future holds. She lands a job as a Production Assistant on a big movie, and ends up catching the eye of Garrett Walker the lead actor. He whisks her off her feet, despite her reservations and they quickly fall in love.

After being thrown into the life of being wife of an A-list actor, she ends up writing a screen play based on the story of her life which becomes a blockbuster sensation. Things are going great for Emma until she finds out her husband has been cheating on her with her best friend and old college roommate whom she was living with when she met Garrett.

Emma is devastated and flees to a resort in Mexico to get away from the paparazzi and to recapture her dignity. While here she starts taking surfing lessons from a hot surfer guy who also teaches her to enjoy the simple joys of life and to love again.

I follow Katie Lee on Twitter and I kept seeing tweets promoting this book. I knew she had written a cook book a while back, so I really had no idea what type of book this was until I picked it up from the library. I was pleasantly shocked that is was a really good book and I couldn’t put it down.

Happy Friday!!

Friday Favorites: 4th of July Edition

Happy Friday! I don't know about you, but I am so ready for the weekend. We finally got some high tempatures here in Central Ohio (104 yesterday!), and all I really want to do anymore is sit by the pool, drink a fruity drink and read a good book! Work, what's work?!? Can I get some WiFi at the pool? That could be my new remote office :)

Anyway, I thought I would share some fun 4th of July inspired pins from Pinterest today to get everyone in the mood for cookouts next week. Cookouts with family and friends is one of my favorite things to do in the summer. Cocktails on the patio is another favorite, but we will save that for another post.

4th of July Fruit Kabobs - Such a cute idea and wouldn't this be so healthy light on a hot summer day? I am thinking I might make this for my family cookout. Looks so easy and the kids would probably love it!

Flag Pie - When I saw this I thought this was just the cutest idea! What's more American than pie?! It would take a little more time, but would be perfect for a family gathering.

Chipotle Black Bean Burgers - I thought this was a great healthier take on the typical burger. I love grilling out and am always looking for interesting takes on the standard burger. What I love the most is using guac and salsa as the toppings on this burger. Might try this on a standard burger also.

Red White, and Blue Trifle - Here is another fun and refreshing dessert. Although it looks fancy, the recipe appears to be pretty easy and once you got an assembly line together, I bet these would come together really quickly.

Flag Pizza - Once again, another creative flag food item. And it would be fun to cook some pizzas on the grill. I haven't tried grilling a pizza yet, but this is on my list of things to do this summer.

July 4th Layered Drinks - You can't have a cookout without a fun cocktail! These are non-alcholic, so great for the kids. And I bet you could find something to spike it with for the adults! Maybe a little rum??
